saw this stuff on one of the sites that i frequent occasionally....

The age of loiteringThe right to loiter after 11pm is now like a rite of passage — must mark it with a partyTHE police have announced that teens below 17 years old found loitering in public places after 11pm will have their particulars taken and their parents informed..This controversial measure was decided on because more and more youth are involved in crime and becoming victims of crime..Now, this does not mean the Government doesn't want our youth to be more enterprising, more rugged and more independent. It just means you should be more enterprising, more rugged and more independent before 11pm..Call me old-fashioned, but I always thought making sure your teenage kids are home before 11pm, or even knowing where your kids are, was the parents' job..In Singapore, it seems all parents need to do these days is to pop the kid out, and let the State take care of the parenting..I can imagine the kind of conversations we have here:.Parent 1: "We don't know where our kids are at night! We just can't control them!".Parent 2: "Yes! My girl-girl tells me she is studying but I am not sure. She might be mixing with a gang engaging in crime or worse, dating a boy from a neighbourhood school!".Parent 3: "The gahmen should do something about this!".Gahmen: "Okay, don't worry, our police will help you to catch your kids. Like school prefects liddat.".Parents: "Thank you, gahmen! You always take care of everything for us!".You know, if you have 14-year-olds running amok in public places after 11pm, my view is you have a bigger problem that not even the police can help you with..For those who are 16 years old, do not fret. It will not be so bad, especially if you are a guy. Just two more years and the State will trust you with a rifle and real bullets to defend our fair country (but you still have to wait till you are 21 to watch a R21 film)..Then you can loiter all you want. Heck, maybe all young people should hold a big "Loiter in Public Places" party when they reach 17 years old, like a rite of passage..Still, if the youth crime situation does not improve, who knows, maybe your platoon sergeant may need to call your parents after you book out to ensure you go straight home after camp..I foresee a need to create a new crack squad of police officers trained to deal with this teen-loitering epidemic. Sooner or later, teens will start posting lookouts ("Benson, today your turn to kua chwee liao!", or "keep watch") and warn other teens below the loitering age of police presence..This undercover teen team will recruit the best officers from the force, but they must look young, in order to infiltrate the seedy world of 14-year-old loiterers..The maximum height to qualify for this squad (codenamed the "Send-You-Home Team") is 1.5m..If you have a baby face, even better. Selected officers will undergo rigorous training in arcade gaming and Para Para dancing, so they can hang out in arcades credibly..They must also learn how to operate Print Club Japanese photo-sticker machines, and learn how to strike cute poses..And most important of all, they must know how to SMS fast and in shorthand, so they can understand what is "c u l8r 2nite"..It will be very Infernal Affairs, and if done right, the teens will never guess there is a cop in their midst, waiting for the right moment to bust up their little scam and inform their parents. But the undercover cop has to remember to shave..Personally, I think we should have the police look at the other side of the problem: Parents who do not know where their kids are after 11pm..We could have the police conduct spot checks..(11pm, a knock on the door).Policeman: "Hello? Spot check! Excuse me, auntie, is your teenage child in?".Parent: "No, officer. I don't know where he is.".Police: "I am afraid I have to take down your name and inform your parents that you are not doing your job.".Parent: "Nooooo, please don't tell my mother I am not looking after her grandson properly, she will nag me to death!".Of course, I am only kidding..It is really not good for kids to be out so late. When I was their age, I was in bed by 9pm. Sure, we did not have the option of late-night computer gaming, instant messaging and porn surfing, and there were fewer happening places to go to then — but still, early to bed and early to rise makes a boy healthy, wealthy and wise..And it also makes a boy less likely to be busted by the Send-You-Home Team..mr brown is the accidental author of a popular website that has been documenting the dysfunctional side of Singapore life since 1997. He thinks teens caught loitering should be made to audition for Singapore Idle.

interesting stuff i thought..i saw it on newpapaer the other day.when i first read it,i tot must be some places in US/UK or just some European countries, then i cont'd....no leh,its in singapore leh.OMGX.haiyo,dint know that the sg gov can actually come up with such a thing. They claim that this move is used to counter youth crimes bla bla bla...well,this is merely an act to solve a problem by the surface only...in chinese we call it 'zhi biao bu zhi ben'.

First, does keeping those kids at home after 11pm,sg's youth crime rates will fall?we shall see one yr later the results of this new order...
Second, who say that you cannot do bad things before 11pm?if the grp of 14/15/16 yr old PHTah beng wanna go pia with another grp of 14/15/16 SYHyr old of ah bengs...both parties can pia at 7pm,6pm,10.30pm...no nid wait for after 11pm...if someone wants to break the law, must really wait until after 11pm meh?

here's a story...

Jenny likes Ben,Ben likes Jenny.so they stead lor...<--stupidway to start of rite?yeah,anyway...
but Jenny's parents dislike Ben alot alot alot.so they dun allow them to be together.cos Jenny's parents say Ben is ah beng, paikia one, later Ben will led Jenny astray, change her into a ah lian, make Jenny pregnant n bla bla bla...but Jenny love Ben alot alot,n Ben love Jenny too,so in the end,Jenny's parents sat a curfew time for her,if she goes out with her friends, she must be home before 7pm.n she can only go out with her girl friends,n they must talk to her mum over the fone that Jenny is going out with them nnot go pak-yor with Ben.They are doing all these because they dun wan any of the above stated bad things to happen to Jenny.(u will understand all these if u are standing in a parents point of view). Then 2months later, they found out that on Jenny's back got one angkong, with the words,'yong yuan ai ni~Jenny love Ben'and then worse still JENNY IS PREGNANT!!!.

Then they sit down in think...
mum:how come liddat?`crycrycry*sobs sobs*
dad:we make her come home before 7pm liao mah...how come this type of things stil can happen?
both mum n dad:*SIGH*

-the end-

moral of the story,if pple want to do things they shldnt do,they can do it anytime they like.so to prevent them frm doing wad they shldnt do,educate them...n not blindly set a curfew.its like,ur daughter got stead liao, tell her wad she shld n shld not do with her bf.if not later 2 person together bcome 3 person togther how?

So gov shld teach the kids,no matter wad time, also cannot break the law..cos its wrong for them to break the law,n every1 shall be good boys n good girls =)
